Check the cause

  1. Verify hydraulic routing to ensure the hydraulics are properly set for the external hydraulic circuit rather than the three-point linkage.

  2. Inspect the external hydraulic valve block and quick couplers for visible fluid leaks, which often point to failed O-rings.

  3. Test the hydraulic pump pressure by installing a 5000 psi (45.6 kPa) test gauge at the provided test connections to check the relief valve.

  4. Check the hydraulic oil filter element (e.g., 25-micron spin-on filter) for clogs that could restrict flow to the spool valves.

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure & Drain

Relieve all hydraulic pressure. You can pump out the hydraulic reservoir through the valve (using a bucket) or leave the hoses in and collect the fluid at the end of the hoses.

  2. Disconnect Lines

Disconnect the supply hose from the hydraulic cover plate and the outlet hose to the linkage spool valve.

  3. Disconnect Controls

Separate the control cables or mechanical linkages of the supports and spool valves.

  4. Remove the Valve

Remove the locknuts located at the ends of the spool valve set to free the valve block.

  5. Rebuild the Valve

If rebuilding, remove the side cover screws to access the internal O-rings, springs, and balls. Replace all seals using an OEM spool valve repair kit.

  6. Reinstall and Test

Reinstall the valve, reconnect all hoses and cables, refill the hydraulic fluid, and use a 5000 psi test gauge to verify that the relief valve is operating at the correct pressure. Clear the DTC using a diagnostic tool.
