Massey Ferguson AC11 – AIRCON (Air Conditioning) Control Module: Sunlight Sensor Signal Incorrect (AIRCON)
Issue description
The air conditioning system's solar radiation sensor (X70) is sending a voltage signal to the controller that is outside the expected operating range (either too high, too low, or erratic).

Check the cause
Perform a visual inspection of the X70 Solar Radiation Sensor to ensure nothing is covering it (e.g., dirt, debris, or items placed on the dash) that could block sunlight.
Disconnect the sensor and inspect the wiring harness connector for corrosion, moisture, or bent pins.
Using a multimeter, check the wiring between the X70 sensor and the AIRCON module for continuity. Test for a short to ground or a short to battery voltage.
If the wiring is intact, the sensor itself has likely failed internally and is sending an out-of-range resistance/voltage value to the module.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery ground cable to prevent electrical spikes.
Access the Sensor
Remove the trim panel or cover surrounding the sunlight sensor. On dashboard-mounted units, this may require removing mounting screws for the monitor assembly or lifting a plastic bezel.
Disconnect
Unplug the wiring connector (often a small 2-pin or 3-pin pigtail) from the X70 sensor.
Remove
Unclip or unscrew the faulty sensor from its mounting bracket.
Install
Snap the new OEM solar radiation sensor into place and reconnect the wiring harness.
Reassemble
Reinstall any trim panels or covers that were removed.
Clear Codes
Reconnect the battery, turn the key to the ON position, and use a diagnostic tool (like an AGCO EDT or Jaltest) or the tractor's onboard diagnostic menu to clear the AC11 / 10.00.11 fault code. Test the automatic AC function in direct sunlight to ensure proper operation.
Parts you might need
(1)Solar Radiation Sensor / Sunlight Sensor (Component X70)
Ensure you are purchasing the sensor specifically for the automatic climate control system, as manual AC systems do not utilize the X70 sensor.
