AC15

Massey Ferguson AC15 – AIRCON (Air Conditioning Control Module): Air Vent Circulation Flap Position Sensor Supply Voltage Issue

Issue description

The system has detected a voltage irregularity—specifically a short to earth (ground)—in the circuit that supplies voltage to the position sensor of the right-hand heating shutter (air circulation flap) motor.

Check the cause

  1. Locate Component X450 (right-hand heating shutter motor) within the cab's HVAC assembly

  2. Use a multimeter to test the wiring harness between the X450 motor and the AIRCON module for continuity to ground to check for shorts to earth

  3. Inspect the AIRCON control module connections, specifically the blue connector (X439) and yellow connector (X440), for loose pins, moisture, or corrosion

  4. Test the supply voltage at the flap position sensor connector to ensure the AIRCON module is sending the correct reference voltage

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Access the HVAC Unit

Remove the necessary cab interior panels (usually the roof or under-dash panels, depending on the specific tractor series) to access the air distribution box.

  3. Inspect and Repair Wiring

Disconnect the harness at the right-hand heating shutter motor (X450). If the diagnostic checks revealed a short to ground in the wiring harness, repair or splice the damaged wire.

  4. Replace the Motor/Sensor

If the wiring harness is intact and the supply voltage from the module is correct, the internal position sensor of the flap motor has failed. Remove the mounting screws for the X450 motor, detach it from the flap linkage, and install the replacement unit.

  5. Reassemble and Clear Codes

Reconnect the wiring harness, reassemble the cab panels, reconnect the battery, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the AC15 / 10.00.15 fault code from the AIRCON module. Test the climate control system to ensure the right-hand shutter operates correctly.
