Massey Ferguson AR02 – TECU (Tractor Electronic Control Unit): Issue With TECU Module (TECU) / Vehicle electronic identification incorrect

The Tractor Electronic Control Unit (TECU) has lost CAN bus communication with the armrest keypad, or the TECU's ISO address cannot be found. It can also indicate a 'VIN Error,' meaning the electronic identification programmed into the module does not match the rest of the tractor's network.

   Inspect Connector X104 (Armrest Autotronic 5 junction) for loose pins, backed-out terminals, moisture, or corrosion.

   Test CAN High and CAN Low lines between the armrest keypad and the Autotronic 5 TECU for continuity, shorts to ground, or shorts to voltage.

   Verify that the armrest module is receiving proper voltage (10V output).

   Connect a diagnostic tool (such as Jaltest or AGCO EDT) to verify the electronic VIN programmed into the Autotronic 5 module.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.

   Harness Repair

   If diagnostic checks revealed damaged wiring or poor pin fitment at the X104 connector, repair the wiring harness or replace the connector pins.

   Clean Connections

   Apply electrical contact cleaner to the X104 connector and securely reconnect it, ensuring the locking tab engages fully.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key to the ON position, and use a diagnostic scanner to clear the AR02 fault code.

   Reprogramming

   If the wiring is perfectly intact and the code immediately returns as a 'Vehicle electronic identification incorrect' error, the Autotronic 5 TECU has likely suffered a software corruption. A dealer must use AGCO EDT software to re-flash the module and rewrite the correct tractor VIN to the TECU.

   Module Replacement

   If the module will not accept a flash or the CAN transceiver inside the armrest keypad has failed internally, the faulty module (either the Armrest Keypad or the Autotronic 5 TECU) must be replaced and calibrated to the tractor.
