Massey Ferguson AR43 – TECU: Calibration Issue For Valve Switch 4 (TECU)

The electronic control unit has lost the calibration parameters for the 4th auxiliary remote valve switch (typically a fingertip proportional switch on the armrest), or the switch is outputting a signal voltage that falls outside of its previously calibrated neutral, minimum, or maximum limits.

   Check for accompanying codes AR 41 (High Amp Draw / Short circuit to 0V) or AR 42 (High Voltage / Short circuit to 12V) for Valve Switch 4. If present, fix the hard electrical fault before attempting calibration.

   Inspect the physical condition of the 4th fingertip switch on the armrest. Ensure it moves smoothly through its full range of motion and springs back to the exact center (neutral) position without sticking.

   Check for debris trapped in the armrest housing that could prevent the switch from returning to its calibrated neutral deadband.

   Lift the armrest console cover and inspect the wiring harness connector for Valve Switch 4. Look for loose pins, chafed wires, or corrosion.

   Turn ignition ON

   Turn the tractor ignition key to the ON position without starting the engine.

   Access calibration menu

   Access the tractor's diagnostic and calibration menu. Depending on the tractor's specification, this is done either through the Datatronic/CCD terminal in the cab or by connecting a compatible diagnostic tool (such as AGCO EDT or Jaltest) to the diagnostic port.

   Navigate to calibration section

   Navigate to the TECU / MFA (Armrest) calibration section.

   Select calibration procedure

   Select the calibration procedure for the Spool Valve Control Levers / Auxiliary Valve Switch 4.

   Follow on-screen prompts

   Follow the on-screen prompts. The system will typically ask you to leave the switch in the neutral position and confirm, push the switch fully forward (extend) and confirm, pull the switch fully backward (retract) and confirm, and release the switch back to neutral.

   Save and cycle ignition

   Save the calibration and cycle the ignition key OFF for 10 seconds, then back ON.

   Test operation

   Test the operation of the 4th remote valve. If the calibration fails repeatedly, or if the AR43 code returns immediately after a successful calibration, the internal potentiometer/hall-effect sensor inside the switch has failed, and the switch module must be replaced.
