Massey Ferguson B.00.03 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid High Amp Draw
Issue description
The control module is detecting an electrical current (amperage) flowing through the loader's mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve solenoid that exceeds the maximum allowable threshold. This is typically caused by a short circuit to ground in the wiring harness, an internally shorted solenoid coil, or water ingress causing a low-resistance bridge across the terminals.

Check the cause
Visual Inspection: Trace the wiring harness from the Mid Mount Valve Module to the loader valve block. Look for pinched wires, chafed insulation rubbing against the tractor chassis, or melted wires that could cause a short to ground.
Connector Check: Disconnect the electrical plug at the mid-mount valve solenoid. Inspect for water ingress, dirt, or melted/corroded pins that could cause a short.
Solenoid Resistance Test: Using a digital multimeter, measure the resistance (Ohms) across the two pins of the solenoid coil. If the reading is at or near 0 Ohms, the coil is internally shorted and must be replaced.
Harness Short Test: With the solenoid disconnected, measure the resistance between the power supply wire in the harness and the tractor chassis ground. If there is continuity, the wiring harness is shorted to ground and needs repair.
Repair steps
Isolate Power
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent further electrical damage during repair.
Address Wiring (If Applicable)
If a short was found in the harness during diagnostics, cut out the damaged section of wire. Splice in a new section of wire using weather-sealed, heat-shrink butt connectors. Re-loom the harness and secure it away from pinch points.
Replace Solenoid (If Internally Shorted)
Disconnect the electrical connector from the faulty solenoid on the mid-mount valve block. Remove the retaining nut at the end of the valve spool stem. Slide the faulty solenoid coil off the cartridge tube. Clean the cartridge tube to ensure it is free of debris. Slide the new solenoid coil onto the tube. Reinstall and tighten the retaining nut to the manufacturer's specified torque (do not overtighten, as this can distort the cartridge).
Reassembly and Testing
Reconnect the electrical plug to the solenoid. Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition on, clear the stored DTCs using the dash interface or a compatible diagnostic tool, and operate the loader joystick to verify the fault does not return.
