Massey Ferguson B.00.12 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid High Amp Draw
Issue description
The control module has detected an abnormally high electrical current (amperage) being drawn by the solenoid coil on the mid-mount hydraulic valve. This is almost always caused by a short circuit, such as a shorted internal winding within the solenoid coil itself or a short-to-ground in the wiring harness leading to the solenoid.

Check the cause
Visual Harness Inspection: Trace the wiring harness from the mid-mount valve block back to the module. Look for pinched wires, melted insulation, or chafing against the tractor frame or loader brackets.
Coil Resistance Test (Ohms): Disconnect the electrical connector at the suspect solenoid. Use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the two pins on the solenoid coil. Compare this reading to a known-good solenoid on an adjacent spool. A reading of near 0 ohms indicates a dead short inside the coil.
Harness Short-to-Ground Test: With the solenoid disconnected, measure the continuity between the power supply pin on the harness connector and the tractor chassis ground. If there is continuity, the wiring harness is shorted.
Swap Test: If the resistance readings are ambiguous, swap the suspect solenoid coil with a neighboring coil on the valve block. Clear the codes and operate the joystick. If the fault code changes to match the new location of the coil, the coil is faulty. If the same code returns for the original spool, the issue is in the wiring harness or the module itself.
Repair steps
Safety First
Lower the loader to the ground, turn off the tractor engine, and cycle the joystick to relieve any residual hydraulic pressure in the mid-mount valve.
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes during repair.
Remove the Faulty Coil
Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the shorted solenoid.
Remove retaining hardware
Remove the retaining nut or bolt at the end of the valve stem that holds the solenoid coil in place.
Remove coil
Slide the faulty electromagnetic coil off the hydraulic valve cartridge tube. (Note: You usually do not need to open the hydraulic system or remove the valve cartridge to replace the coil, meaning no fluid will be lost).
Install the New Coil
Slide the replacement coil over the valve stem. Ensure any O-rings or weather seals are seated correctly.
Secure coil
Install and tighten the retaining nut to the manufacturer's torque spec (do not overtighten, as this can distort the valve stem and cause the spool to stick).
Reassemble and Test
Reconnect the wiring harness, reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and test the loader functions. Verify that the fault code has cleared.
