Massey Ferguson B.00.20 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Issue With Spool Position Sensor Value
Issue description
The control module is receiving an erratic, missing, or out-of-range electrical signal from the sensor responsible for monitoring the physical position of the hydraulic spool valve.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors at the mid-mount hydraulic valve block for corrosion, moisture ingress, or physical damage
Verify the reference voltage to the spool position sensor (typically operates on a 5V reference supply)
Monitor the sensor's output signal voltage (should be ~2.5V in neutral, sweeping ± 0.2V to 2V variance as the spool moves)
Look for accompanying codes such as 0B.00.22, 0B.00.23, or 0B.00.16, which could point to a broader module failure or a need for simple recalibration rather than a hard part failure
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent short circuits while working on the sensitive hydraulic electronics.
Locate the Sensor
Locate the mid-mount valve module/hydraulic valve block (often located under the right-hand side of the cab or near the loader subframe).
Remove the Sensor
Disconnect the electrical connector from the faulty spool position sensor. Remove the retaining screws/hardware and carefully extract the sensor from the valve block.
Install the New Part
Lubricate the O-ring on the new sensor with clean hydraulic fluid. Insert the new spool position sensor and tighten the retaining hardware to OEM torque specs.
Reconnect
Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the weather-pack seal clicks firmly into place.
Calibrate
Reconnect the battery. You must use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the B.00.20 DTC and perform a hydraulic valve calibration. This allows the Mid Mount Valve Module to learn the new sensor's exact neutral and end-stroke voltage values.
Parts you might need
(3)Spool Position Sensor / Front Axle Position Sensor
7300160101Aftermarket cross-reference: 67549. Fitment note: Used across 5400, 5600, 6400, 6600, 7400, 7600, and 8600 series valve blocks.
Spool Valve Block Assembly
7602601401Aftermarket cross-reference: 67530. Fitment note: Required if the internal spool bore is damaged and replacing the sensor alone does not resolve the issue.
Solenoid Coil
7602601801Alternative OEM Part Number: 7302601401. Aftermarket cross-reference: 64838 or 64837. Fitment note: Often replaced concurrently if the valve is sticking and causing the position sensor to read out of bounds.
