Massey Ferguson B.01.04 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid Open Circuit

This code indicates that the control module has detected an incomplete electrical path (an open circuit) in the circuit supplying the solenoid on the mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve. This valve is responsible for controlling the hydraulic fluid flow to the front-end loader. An open circuit usually means a broken wire, an unplugged connector, or a completely burnt-out internal coil inside the solenoid itself.

   Visually inspect the mid-mount valve block wiring harness for obvious breaks, rodent damage, or chafing against the tractor frame.

   Unplug the connector at the affected solenoid and check for pushed-out pins, water ingress, or green corrosion.

   Measure the resistance across the two pins of the solenoid coil using a digital multimeter. If it reads 'OL' (Open Loop) or infinite resistance, the internal coil is broken.

   If the coil tests good, test the wiring harness for continuity between the solenoid connector and the Mid Mount Valve Module to locate the break in the wire.

   Safety First

   Lower the loader to the ground, turn off the tractor engine, and cycle the loader joystick to relieve any residual hydraulic pressure in the system.

   Access the Valve

   Locate the mid-mount electro-valve block. Clean the area around the affected solenoid to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty solenoid.

   Remove the Solenoid Coil

   Remove the retaining nut at the end of the valve stem.

   Replace

   Slide the old solenoid coil off the valve cartridge stem. (Note: You usually do not need to remove the hydraulic cartridge itself, meaning no hydraulic fluid should leak). Slide the new solenoid coil onto the stem.

   Reassemble

   Install and tighten the retaining nut to the manufacturer's specified torque (do not overtighten, or you may crack the plastic coil housing). Reconnect the electrical plug.

   Clear Codes

   Use a compatible diagnostic tool or the tractor's dash interface to clear the inactive DTC.

   Test

   Start the tractor and operate the loader joystick to confirm proper function and ensure the code does not return.
