B.01.23

Massey Ferguson B.01.23 – Autotronic controller: Issue With Calibration OF Valves

Issue description

Failure or out-of-range condition during the calibration of the transmission/hydraulic electro-valves (such as the forward/reverse shuttle solenoid valves or mid-mount loader valves). Symptoms often include jerking, delayed direction changes, flashing indicator lights, or a complete lack of shuttle response.

Check the cause

  1. Check transmission oil temperature (must be between 35°C/95°F and 45°C/113°F for successful calibration)

  2. Cycle the Power Shuttle lever 10 times in each direction for 5–10 seconds to warm up the control unit and solenoid valves

  3. Check the voltage on the shuttle position potentiometer (located on the right-hand transmission cover)

  4. Inspect the hydraulic system for contaminated oil, blocked filters, damaged couplers, faulty hoses, or sticky valves

Repair steps

  1. Position the tractor on flat ground, place the transmission in neutral, and release the parking brake.

This procedure is specific to Dyna-4/Dyna-6 transmissions.

  2. Access the left-hand dash screen and configure all PowerShuttle progressivity settings (forward engagement, reverse engagement, and ratio shifting sensitivity) to "0".

  3. Raise the engine speed to approximately 1500 RPM.

  4. Raise the PowerShuttle arm to the "raised" position and hold it there while simultaneously pressing the differential lock switch.

  5. Hold both for about 10 seconds until the right-hand instrument panel displays "Ct".

  6. Place the PowerShuttle arm into the forward position to begin the calibration.

The screen will continuously show "Ct" for approximately 10 minutes. It is normal to hear the transmission shifting and valves actuating during this time.

  7. Wait for the calibration to complete.

Once complete, the screen will display the last transmission ratio you were in (e.g., "1A/2A" or "1E/2E").

  8. To save the settings, place the PowerShuttle into neutral, disengage the differential lock, idle the tractor down, and turn the engine off.

  9. Restart the tractor and test maneuvers (forward to reverse, neutral to forward, etc.) to validate that the shifting is smooth.

Parts you might need

(5)
  • Shuttle Position Potentiometer

Mounts on the right-hand transmission cover

  • Forward Solenoid Valve

  • Reverse Solenoid Valve

  • Transmission/Hydraulic Oil Filters

To clear contamination causing sticky valves

  • Hydraulic Pump & Suction Pipe Seals

If the system is failing to produce enough flow/pressure to actuate the valves
