Massey Ferguson B.02.04 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid Open Circuit

This fault code indicates an Open Circuit in the electrical circuit of the loader's mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve solenoid. The control module has detected that the electrical path to the solenoid is broken. This is typically caused by a disconnected plug, a severed wiring harness, corroded connector pins, or a burned-out internal solenoid coil (infinite resistance). When this occurs, the loader will fail to respond to joystick commands for the affected hydraulic function.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness running from the tractor chassis to the mid-mount valve block for pinched wires, rodent damage, or pulled connectors.

   Disconnect the plug at the affected solenoid and check for water ingress, dirt, or corroded pins.

   Perform a coil resistance test using a digital multimeter across the two pins of the suspect solenoid coil (a reading of 'OL' or infinite ohms confirms the coil has failed).

   Test the continuity of the wiring harness from the solenoid connector back to the Mid Mount Valve Module to isolate a broken wire if the coil tests within normal specifications.

   Safety Prep

   Park the tractor on a level surface, lower the loader completely to the ground to relieve all hydraulic pressure, turn off the engine, and remove the key.

   Access the Valve Block

   Locate the mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve block. Clean the area around the solenoids thoroughly with brake cleaner or compressed air to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

   Remove the Solenoid

   Disconnect the electrical harness from the faulty solenoid. Remove the retaining nut at the end of the valve stem.

   Replace the Coil

   Slide the faulty electromagnetic coil off the valve cartridge stem. Slide the new solenoid coil onto the stem and tighten the retaining nut to the manufacturer's specified torque.

   Reconnect and Clear Codes

   Reconnect the electrical harness. Turn the tractor on and use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the inactive DTCs.

   Calibration

   In some cases, replacing electronic valve components may require a valve calibration procedure via the tractor's terminal. Test loader operation.
