Massey Ferguson B.02.10 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid Open Circuit
Issue description
The diagnostic system has detected a break in the electrical path to one of the solenoids on the mid-mount hydraulic valve (the valve block that controls the front-end loader). An open circuit condition occurs when there is infinite resistance, preventing current from flowing. This is typically caused by a disconnected electrical plug, a severed or chafed wire in the harness, or a burnt-out internal coil within the solenoid itself.

Check the cause
Visual Inspection: Locate the mid-mount valve block (usually mounted under the right side of the cab). Inspect the wiring harness and the connectors plugging into the solenoids. Look for unplugged connectors, pushed-out pins, corrosion, or wires torn by debris.
Solenoid Coil Resistance Test: Disconnect the electrical plug from the suspect solenoid. Using a digital multimeter set to Ohms, measure the resistance across the two pins of the solenoid coil. If the multimeter reads 'OL' (infinite resistance), the coil is burnt out internally and must be replaced.
Harness Continuity Test: If the coil tests good (shows a standard resistance value), test the wiring harness for continuity between the solenoid connector and the Mid Mount Valve Module. Fold or wiggle the harness during testing to check for intermittent breaks inside the wire insulation.
Repair steps
Park the tractor on a level surface, lower the front loader completely to the ground, and turn off the engine.
Ensure the machine is safely parked and the loader is grounded.
Relieve all residual hydraulic pressure by moving the loader joystick in all directions.
This prevents hydraulic fluid hazards during the repair.
Locate the mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve block under the cab.
Identify the valve block to access the solenoids.
Disconnect the electrical connector from the faulty solenoid.
Remove the plug to free the solenoid coil.
Remove the retaining nut or cap screw at the end of the solenoid stem.
This secures the coil to the valve cartridge.
Slide the faulty solenoid coil off the hydraulic valve cartridge.
Note: You usually do not need to remove the hydraulic cartridge itself, which prevents hydraulic fluid loss.
Slide the new replacement solenoid coil onto the valve stem and securely tighten the retaining nut.
Install the new coil in place of the faulty one.
Reconnect the electrical connector, ensuring it clicks firmly into place.
Restore the electrical connection to the new solenoid.
Start the tractor, operate the loader joystick, and verify that the fault code clears and the loader functions properly.
Test the repair to ensure the open circuit is resolved and functionality is restored.
