Massey Ferguson B.02.11 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid Low Amp Draw
Issue description
The control module is detecting less electrical current (amperage) than expected flowing through the loader's mid-mount valve solenoid circuit when the valve is commanded to open or close. A low amp draw condition typically indicates high electrical resistance in the circuit, commonly caused by a failing solenoid coil, corroded electrical connectors, or a partially broken wire in the harness.

Check the cause
Visual Inspection: Locate the mid-mount valve block (typically mounted on the right side of the tractor chassis where the loader hydraulic lines connect). Inspect the wiring harness leading to the solenoids for chafing, pinch points, or breaks.
Connector Check: Disconnect the electrical plug at the affected solenoid. Check for water ingress, dirt, or green corrosion on the pins, which creates high resistance and causes the low amp draw.
Resistance Test (Ohms): Using a multimeter, measure the resistance across the two pins of the suspect solenoid coil. Compare the reading to a known good solenoid on the same valve block. A significantly higher resistance reading confirms the coil is failing internally.
Harness Continuity: Check the continuity of the power and ground wires from the solenoid connector back to the Mid Mount Valve Module to rule out a wiring harness fault.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent short circuits.
Relieve Pressure
Relieve any residual hydraulic pressure in the loader circuit by moving the joystick through all positions (if mechanically possible) or ensuring the loader is resting flat on the ground.
Disconnect
Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty mid-mount electro valve solenoid.
Remove Coil
Remove the retaining nut at the end of the valve cartridge stem.
Slide Off
Slide the old solenoid coil off the hydraulic valve cartridge. (Note: You usually do not need to remove the hydraulic cartridge itself, meaning no hydraulic fluid will be lost).
Install New Part
Slide the new solenoid coil onto the cartridge stem. Ensure it is seated correctly and reinstall the retaining nut (do not overtighten, as this can distort the cartridge).
Clean and Reconnect
Spray the wiring harness connector with electrical contact cleaner, apply a small amount of dielectric grease to prevent future moisture ingress, and plug it into the new solenoid.
Test
Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and operate the loader joystick to verify that the fault code has cleared and the valve operates smoothly.
