B.02.12

Massey Ferguson B.02.12 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid High Amp Draw

Issue description

The tractor's onboard diagnostic system has detected an abnormally high electrical current (amperage) being drawn by the solenoid responsible for actuating the mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve.

Check the cause

  1. Verify the tractor's battery is fully charged, as a weak battery struggles to provide enough current, increasing resistance and causing solenoids to draw higher amperage.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the Mid Mount Valve Module and the solenoid for melted insulation, corrosion, or loose connections that could cause a short to ground.

  3. Carefully feel the solenoid for excessive heat and measure the voltage drop across it; excessive heat and a high voltage drop indicate a failing internal coil.

  4. Remove the solenoid and manually check the valve spool to ensure it is not jammed or binding, which would force the solenoid to remain energized continuously.

Repair steps

  1. Turn off the tractor, engage the parking brake, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

    Safety First

  2. Locate the Mid-Mount Electro Valve assembly, which is typically mounted under the cab or on the chassis routing to the loader quick attach couplers.

    Locate the Valve

  3. Unplug the electrical wiring harness connector from the affected high-amp solenoid.

    Disconnect Wiring

  4. Remove the retaining nut or bolts holding the solenoid coil to the valve stem. Slide the old solenoid off the valve cartridge.

    Remove the Solenoid

  5. Before installing the new part, manually actuate the valve plunger/spool to ensure it is completely bottoming out in the bore and moving freely without binding.

    Inspect the Spool

  6. Slide the new solenoid coil onto the valve stem. Ensure it is mounted securely and not allowed to move out of the solenoid body too far, as the magnetic field needs proper alignment to pull correctly.

    Install New Solenoid

  7. Tighten the retaining nut, reconnect the electrical harness, and reconnect the battery.

    Reassembly

  8. Start the tractor and operate the loader joystick to verify the fault code has cleared and the valve operates smoothly without the solenoid overheating.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • Electronic Mid-Mount Valve Kit / Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid

    R917007989

Manufactured by Rexroth Bosch and is commonly referenced under this part number (shared across AGCO and CNH platforms).

  • Mid-Mount Valve Wiring Harness

Required if the harness is melted due to the high amp draw.
