Massey Ferguson B.02.13 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Supply Solenoid Open Circuit
Issue description
The tractor's onboard diagnostic system has detected a break in the electrical circuit supplying power to the mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve solenoid. An "open circuit" means the electrical path is incomplete, which prevents the solenoid from energizing and actuating the hydraulic valve for the loader. This is typically caused by a disconnected plug, a severed wire in the harness, or a burnt-out solenoid coil.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the mid-mount valve block wiring harness for chafing, cuts, or pinch points
Unplug the electrical connector at the affected solenoid and check for pushed-back pins, corrosion, or moisture
Perform a coil continuity test using a multimeter set to Ohms across the two pins of the solenoid coil (an 'OL' reading indicates a broken internal coil)
Perform a voltage supply test by unplugging the connector, turning the key ON, and actuating the loader joystick to ensure 12V power is reaching the valve
Repair steps
Safety First
Turn off the tractor, relieve all hydraulic pressure by moving the loader joystick in all directions, and disconnect the negative battery cable.
Access the Valve
Clean the area around the mid-mount electro valve block to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.
Remove the Solenoid
Disconnect the electrical plug from the faulty solenoid. Remove the retaining nut at the end of the valve stem that holds the solenoid coil in place.
Replace the Coil
Slide the old solenoid coil off the hydraulic cartridge tube. (Note: You usually do not need to open the hydraulic system or remove the cartridge valve itself just to replace the electrical coil).
Install the New Part
Slide the new solenoid coil onto the stem, ensuring it is seated correctly. Reinstall and tighten the retaining nut (do not overtighten, as this can distort the cartridge).
Reassemble and Test
Reconnect the electrical plug. Reconnect the battery. Start the tractor and test the loader functions to ensure the code clears and the hydraulics operate smoothly.
