Massey Ferguson B.02.15 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid High Amp Draw

Issue description

The electrical current (amperage) flowing through the solenoid circuit for the loader's mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve is exceeding the expected or safe threshold. This condition is typically caused by a short circuit to ground in the wiring harness, a shorted internal solenoid coil, or a damaged connector.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness running from the Mid Mount Valve Module to the Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid for any rubbed-through insulation, pinched wires, or shorts to the tractor chassis.

  2. Disconnect the solenoid and inspect the electrical connectors for water ingress, corrosion, or bent pins that could bridge the circuit.

  3. Use a multimeter to test the resistance (ohms) across the solenoid coil pins. A reading of zero or near-zero ohms indicates an internally shorted solenoid coil.

  4. Check the voltage supply and ground circuits at the connector to ensure the module is sending the correct voltage without a short on the supply line.

Repair steps

  1. Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Locate the Mid Mount Valve block.

    Locate the Mid Mount Valve block (typically under the right-hand side of the cab or integrated into the loader subframe).

  6. Install the new Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid coil.

    Install the new Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid coil and tighten the retaining nut.

  7. Reconnect the electrical connector.

    Reconnect the electrical connector, ensuring the weather seal is seated properly.

  8. Reconnect the battery.

    Reconnect the battery.

  9. Clear the DTCs.

    Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the DTCs from the Mid Mount Valve Module.

  10. Verify the repair.

    Start the tractor and operate the loader joystick to verify the high amp draw fault does not return and the valve operates smoothly.
