B.02.16

Massey Ferguson B.02.16 – Dash (Instrument Cluster) and Mid Mount Valve Module: No Communication Between The Dash and The Mid Mount Valve Module

Issue description

Loss of CAN bus data communication between the tractor's instrument cluster (dash) and the electronic controller responsible for the mid-mount hydraulic valves (typically used for loader operations).

Applies to these machines

  • 5710SL
  • 5711SL
  • 5712SL
  • 5713SL
  • T4
  • 5608
  • 5609
  • 5610
  • 5611
  • 5612
  • 5613

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness running from the cab/dash down to the mid-mount valve module for chafing, cuts, or pinch points.

  2. Disconnect the plug at the mid-mount valve module and check for water ingress, corrosion, pushed-out pins, or loose terminals.

  3. Verify that the mid-mount valve module is receiving proper battery voltage and has a solid, clean ground.

  4. Test the CAN High and CAN Low communication lines for continuity between the module connector and the cab pass-through/dash.

Repair steps

  1. Locate the Module

Find the mid-mount valve module, which is typically mounted near the mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve block (often on the right side of the tractor, used for the loader).

  2. Isolate the Fault

Based on the diagnostic checks, determine if the issue is in the wiring harness or the module itself.

  3. Repair Wiring

If a break or short is found in the CAN lines, power, or ground, repair the wiring harness using weather-sealed connectors.

  4. Replace the Module

If power, ground, and CAN continuity are all verified as good, the mid-mount valve module has failed internally. Remove the retaining hardware, disconnect the harness, and install a new module.

  5. Clear Codes

Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the B.02.16 / 0B.00.16 fault code and verify that communication has been restored.

  6. Calibration

If the module is replaced, a spool valve calibration procedure may be required via the tractor's terminal or diagnostic tool.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Mid Mount Valve Module / Loader Electro Valve Controller

Specific OEM part numbers vary heavily based on the exact tractor serial number, cab configuration, and loader joystick package. Consult the Massey Ferguson AGCO parts catalog with the tractor's VIN/Serial Number to obtain the exact module or harness part number.
