B.02.19

Massey Ferguson B.02.19 – Mid Mount Valve Module or Hydraulic Control Module: Issue With Spool Position Sensor Value

Issue description

The hydraulic control module is receiving an out-of-range, erratic, or implausible voltage signal from the spool position sensor. The sensor's function is to monitor the physical stroke/position of the hydraulic spool valve to ensure it matches the flow percentage commanded by the operator's joystick. If the spool does not move to the commanded position (or the sensor fails to read it), this code is triggered.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the affected spool valve (mid-mount or rear remote) for corrosion, moisture ingress, or broken wires.

  2. Verify the sensor is receiving the correct reference voltage (5V ±2% supply).

  3. Back-probe the sensor signal wire to ensure it reads approximately 2.5V (± 0.2V) in neutral and sweeps smoothly without dropping out when the joystick is moved.

  4. Ensure the spool valve itself is not mechanically binding due to contamination or debris in the hydraulic fluid.

  5. Check for related calibration codes (e.g., 0B.00.22 or 0B.00.23) as the system may simply need a valve calibration.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all hydraulic implements to the ground, turn off the engine, and cycle the hydraulic controls to relieve any residual pressure in the system.

  2. Locate the Sensor

Identify the specific spool valve block triggering the code. The position sensor is typically mounted on the end cap of the spool slice.

  3. Removal

Disconnect the electrical harness from the sensor. Remove the retaining screws securing the sensor housing to the valve body.

  4. Inspection

Carefully pull the sensor straight out. Inspect the mechanical linkage/pin on the end of the spool for wear or damage.

  5. Installation

Install the new spool position sensor, ensuring the internal tang or pin aligns correctly with the spool. Tighten the retaining screws to the manufacturer's specified torque.

  6. Reconnection

Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the weather seal is intact.

  7. Calibration

Power on the tractor. You must perform a hydraulic valve calibration procedure (using the tractor's onboard dash menu or a compatible AGCO diagnostic tool) to teach the control module the new sensor's neutral, maximum extend, and maximum retract voltage values.

  8. Testing

Clear the B.02.19 / 0B.00.19 fault code and operate the joystick to verify smooth hydraulic function without the code returning.
