Massey Ferguson B.02.20 – Mid Mount Valve Module or Electrohydraulic Spool Valve Controller: Issue With Spool Position Sensor Value
Issue description
The control module is receiving an out-of-range, erratic, or implausible voltage signal from the position sensor located on one of the electrohydraulic spool valves. This indicates the physical stroke/position of the internal spool does not match the flow commanded by the operator's controls.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the affected spool valve slice for rub points, damaged wires, or moisture ingress in the 4-pin connector.
Verify that the sensor is receiving a steady 5V reference supply and has a solid ground (a fluctuating supply voltage will cause an erratic position value).
Check if the spool valve is physically sticking due to debris or oil contamination, preventing the spool from reaching the commanded position.
Attempt to clear the code and run a spool valve calibration via the tractor's Datatronic terminal to resolve minor position drift.
Repair steps
Depressurize the System
Turn off the tractor, cycle the hydraulic levers/joystick to relieve residual hydraulic pressure, and disconnect the battery.
Clean the Area
Thoroughly clean the exterior of the hydraulic valve block to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system during disassembly.
Disconnect Electronics
Unplug the 4-pin electrical connector from the faulty spool valve slice.
Remove the Sensor/Head Unit
Depending on the exact valve block, remove the retaining bolts holding the electric spool slice head (or the standalone position sensor) to the mechanical valve body.
Install the New Part
Fit the replacement sensor or slice head, ensuring the O-rings/seals are properly seated. Torque the retaining bolts to OEM specifications.
Reconnect and Calibrate
Reconnect the wiring harness and battery. Start the tractor and use the Datatronic terminal (or a dealer diagnostic tool) to perform a mandatory Valve Calibration so the ECU learns the new neutral, fully open, and fully closed voltage values.
