Massey Ferguson B.X.08 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid Low Amp Draw
Issue description
The control module is detecting less electrical current (amperage) than expected flowing through the solenoid circuit that controls the mid-mount loader valve. A 'low amp draw' typically points to high electrical resistance, a loose or corroded connection, damaged wiring, or a failing/open solenoid coil.

Check the cause
Visual Inspection: Locate the mid-mount valve block (typically where the loader hydraulic lines tie into the tractor chassis). Inspect the wiring harness leading to the electro-hydraulic solenoids for chafing, breaks, or pinch points.
Connector Check: Disconnect the wiring harness at the affected solenoid. Check for water ingress, dirt, or corroded pins. Ensure the pins are tight and making good contact.
Resistance Test (Ohms): Using a multimeter, measure the resistance across the two pins of the solenoid coil. An infinite reading (OL) indicates an internal break (open circuit) in the coil, confirming the coil is dead.
Voltage/Command Test: With the key on, probe the harness side of the connector while commanding the loader joystick. You should see a voltage signal sent to the valve. If no voltage is present, the issue lies in the wiring harness or the Mid Mount Valve Module rather than the solenoid itself.
Repair steps
Safety First
Lower the loader to the ground to relieve hydraulic pressure. Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable.
Locate the Valve
Access the mid-mount electro valve block. Clean the area around the valve to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.
Disconnect Wiring
Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty solenoid.
Remove the Solenoid Coil
Remove the retaining nut or cap screw at the end of the valve stem that holds the solenoid coil in place.
Swap the Coil
Slide the old solenoid coil off the valve cartridge tube. (Note: You usually do not need to remove the hydraulic cartridge itself, meaning no hydraulic fluid will be lost).
Install New Part
Slide the new solenoid coil onto the stem and secure it with the retaining nut. Do not overtighten, as this can crack the plastic coil housing.
Reconnect
Plug the electrical connector back in, ensuring it clicks and locks securely.
Clear Codes & Test
Reconnect the battery. Use a compatible diagnostic tool or the tractor's dash interface to clear the 0B.X.08 fault code. Start the tractor and test the loader joystick to ensure proper operation.
