Massey Ferguson B.X.13 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Supply Solenoid Open Circuit

The tractor's diagnostic system has detected a break in the electrical circuit (an "open circuit") that supplies power to the solenoid on the mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve. This valve controls the hydraulic flow to the front-end loader. An open circuit typically means a wire is broken, a connector is unplugged, or the internal copper coil of the solenoid has burnt out and broken continuity.

   Visually inspect the mid-mount valve block and solenoid electrical plug for dirt, corrosion, or physical disconnection.

   Trace the wiring harness from the solenoid back toward the Mid Mount Valve Module, looking for pinched, chafed, or broken wires.

   Perform a solenoid coil resistance test by disconnecting the plug and measuring resistance across the two pins with a multimeter (an 'OL' or infinite reading means the coil is burnt out).

   Check the voltage supply coming from the loader selector switch in the cab to ensure the module is sending the command signal.

   Relieve Pressure

   Lower the front-end loader completely to the ground to relieve hydraulic pressure in the system.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

   Access the Valve

   Locate the mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve block. Clean the area around the faulty solenoid to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

   Remove the Solenoid

   Disconnect the electrical harness plug from the solenoid. Remove the retaining nut located at the end of the solenoid stem.

   Replace the Coil

   Slide the faulty solenoid coil off the valve cartridge stem. Slide the new solenoid coil onto the stem.

   Reassembly

   Reinstall and tighten the retaining nut. Reconnect the electrical harness plug securely.

   Test and Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery. Start the tractor and test the loader joystick functions. Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the inactive DTC from the system.
