Massey Ferguson B.X.23 – Hydraulic Control Module or Tractor Control Unit (TCU / Autotronic controller): Issue With Calibration OF Valves
Issue description
The tractor's onboard computer attempted to calibrate the electro-hydraulic proportional valves (which control hydraulic flow to the remotes or the loader) but the procedure failed, timed out, or the feedback values from the valve solenoids fell outside of the acceptable programmed parameters.

Check the cause
Check hydraulic fluid level and ensure filters are clean, as low fluid or dirty filters can cause pressure drops that make calibration impossible
Check hydraulic oil operating temperature; calibrations will often fail if the oil is cold
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the mid-mount loader valve block or rear remotes for damaged wires, loose pins, or corrosion
Check for accompanying codes like 0B.01.01 (Open Circuit) or 0B.01.03 (High Amp Draw), which indicate a hard electrical fault rather than a calibration issue
Repair steps
Prepare tractor for calibration
Park the tractor on a level surface, apply the parking brake, and ensure no implements are suspended in the air (lower the loader/linkage to the ground).
Warm up tractor
Warm the tractor up until the hydraulic fluid reaches normal operating temperature.
Access diagnostics
Access the tractor's terminal (e.g., Datatronic 5 screen) or connect the dealer diagnostic tool.
Navigate to calibration settings
Navigate to the Hydraulics menu and select the valve flow/calibration settings.
Initiate calibration
Initiate the calibration sequence. The system will automatically stroke the valves to learn their dead-bands and maximum flow limits.
Replace electrovalve solenoid if necessary
If the calibration fails repeatedly on a specific valve, the electrovalve solenoid is likely sticking internally or has failed electrically, and the solenoid/electrovalve must be replaced.
