Massey Ferguson D150 – Instrument Panel (DCC2 / Dash) or Autotronic 4: CAN messages lost

Issue description

Check the cause

  1. Check the continuity of the two CAN network wires that link the Autotronic 4 to the DCC2 (Instrument Panel)

  2. Verify battery voltage and ensure battery terminals are securely fastened and not contaminated, as low voltage can cause CAN modules to drop offline

  3. Inspect the wiring harness for rub points, open circuits, or shorts to ground, particularly under the armrest and cab routing areas

  4. Check for hardware program errors in the DCC2 or the Autotronic 4 using a dealer diagnostic tool

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect power

Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during the repair.

  2. Inspect connectors

Locate the connectors at the back of the Instrument Panel (Dash) and the Autotronic 4 controller. Unplug them and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out pins.

  3. Repair wiring

If the continuity test reveals a break or short in the CAN High or CAN Low wires, repair or replace the damaged section of the CAN bus wiring harness.

  4. Reprogram modules

If the wiring is completely intact and the connectors are clean, the fault is likely a hardware or software failure. Attempt to have a dealer re-flash/reprogram the DCC2 and Autotronic 4.

  5. Replace faulty module

If reprogramming fails, replace the faulty Instrument Panel or Autotronic 4 controller.

  6. Clear codes

Reconnect the battery, turn the ignition on, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the D150 code and verify that CAN communication is restored.
