D152

Massey Ferguson D152 – X55 - Instrument Panel: Hourmeter error for engine maintenance

Issue description

Check the cause

  1. Verify Maintenance Schedule: Check the current engine hours to see if the tractor has reached a scheduled factory maintenance interval (e.g., 250-hour engine/fuel service or 500-hour hydraulic service).

  2. Check for Accompanying Codes: Look for related X55 Instrument Panel codes that might indicate a broader module failure, such as D153 (Parameter table error), D154 (CAN communications failed), or D155 (Incorrect tractor code).

  3. Battery/Voltage Check: Ensure battery voltage is stable, as voltage spikes or drops (Codes D129/D130) can cause EEPROM memory sync issues between the engine ECU and the X55 dashboard.

Repair steps

  1. Perform Required Maintenance

If the service counter has elapsed, perform the necessary physical maintenance (oil, filters, fluid checks).

  2. Service Counter Reset

Connect a compatible heavy-duty diagnostic tool (such as Jaltest AGV, JPRO Off-Highway, or AGCO dealer software) to the tractor's diagnostic port.

  3. Clear the Code

Navigate to the maintenance/service menu in the diagnostic software and execute the 'Maintenance Reset' or 'Service Counter Reset' command.

  4. Restore Factory Defaults

If the hourmeter data is corrupted and a standard reset does not clear the D152 code, navigate the tractor's A-post or dashboard menu to restore factory default settings, forcing the modules to re-sync the hour data.

  5. Module Reprogramming/Replacement

If the code persists and is accompanied by D153 (Parameter table error), the X55 Instrument Panel has likely suffered an internal memory failure. The dealer must re-flash the instrument cluster or replace the X55 unit entirely.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • X55 Instrument Panel Assembly / Dashboard Cluster

Varies strictly by exact model, cab configuration, and transmission type. Must be ordered through an authorized AGCO/Massey Ferguson dealer for proprietary programming.
