Massey Ferguson E 107 (18) – Engine ECU: Air filter pressure BELOW NORMAL
Issue description
The engine's air filter pressure is below the normal operating range, indicating a restriction or blockage in the air intake system. This condition impedes airflow to the engine, most commonly due to a clogged air filter, which leads to reduced engine performance and lower fuel efficiency. In some cases, it may also indicate a faulty air filter pressure sensor or damaged intake piping.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- Massey Ferguson 8600 Series
- Massey Ferguson 7600 Series
- Massey Ferguson 5400 Series
- Massey Ferguson Dyna-4 and Dyna-6 transmission models (e.g.
- 7614 to 7618)
Check the cause
Inspect the primary and secondary engine air filters for severe dirt accumulation, blockages, or debris.
Inspect the air intake hoses and pipes between the filter housing and the engine for collapses, blockages, or damage.
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the air filter pressure sensor. Look for chafed wires, open circuits, or possible oxidation/corrosion on the connector pins.
Unplug the sensor and turn the key to the ON position. Verify that the sensor is receiving the correct 5V reference voltage and ground from the Engine ECU.
If the filter is clean and wiring is intact, temporarily connect a known-good air filter pressure sensor to see if the fault code clears.
Repair steps
Replace the Air Filter
If the air filter is heavily soiled or blocked, remove the old filter, clean the inside of the air filter housing with a damp cloth, and install a new OEM air filter.
Clear the Code
Turn the battery disconnect switch off for 30 seconds, then turn it back on. Start the engine and run it at idle to see if the code clears.
Replace the Sensor
If code persists: Locate the air filter pressure sensor on the air intake housing/piping. Disconnect the electrical connector. Unscrew or unclip the faulty sensor from the intake housing. Install the new air filter pressure sensor. Reconnect the wiring harness, ensuring the connector clicks securely into place.
Final Verification
Start the tractor and verify that the E 107 (18) code is no longer active on the instrument panel.
