Massey Ferguson E03 – ATC (Automatic Temperature Control) Module: Defect in the blower control potentiometer

The ATC digital display alternates between 'E03' and the current temperature adjustment, and the system defaults the blower into automatic mode, disregarding manual inputs from the defective blower potentiometer.

   Verify the symptom by checking if the ATC digital display is alternating between the 'E03' code and the temperature setting.

   Confirm that the blower has defaulted to automatic mode and is no longer responding to manual speed adjustments.

   Inspect the wiring harness and the whip of the cable connecting to the blower control potentiometer behind the ATC panel for loose connections, chafing, or breaks.

   Disconnect battery power

   Disconnect battery power to the cab to prevent electrical shorts.

   Remove ATC panel

   Carefully remove the ATC (climate control) panel from the right-hand pillar or side console to access the rear components.

   Locate potentiometer

   Locate the blower control potentiometer switch on the back of the panel.

   Test potentiometer

   Disconnect the wiring harness from the potentiometer and test the switch for proper resistance.

   Replace potentiometer

   If the potentiometer is faulty (which is the primary cause of the E03 code), remove the retaining hardware and replace the potentiometer switch with a new OEM unit.

   Reinstall ATC panel

   Reconnect the wiring harness and reinstall the ATC panel.

   Restore power and test

   Restore battery power and turn on the system. The digital temperature display should reappear normally without alternating with the E03 error code.
