E10

Massey Ferguson E10 – Main instrument cluster / Autotronic controller: Dash Error Prefix / SCV No Valve Detected

Issue description

On Global Series models, E10 is a dashboard display prefix indicating an error is present (the actual fault code is displayed below it). On older models with electrohydraulic spool valves, it corresponds to a 1-3-3 blink code meaning 'no valve detected' in the SCV system.

Applies to these machines

  • 4707
  • 4708
  • 4709
  • 4710
  • T4 (2015-2021)
  • 7400 series
  • 7499

Check the cause

  1. For Global Series (Dash Prefix): Read the full number below the 'E10' on the dash to determine the actual fault code. No repair can be diagnosed without this sub-code.

  2. For SCV 'No Valve Detected' Issue: Check Valve LEDs. They should be solid red when receiving power and turn green when receiving input to move. A flashing LED indicates a fault.

  3. For SCV Issue: Verify the Blink Code by counting the flashes on the valve LED to confirm the 1-3-3 blink code (one flash, pause, three flashes, pause, three flashes, then fast flashes).

  4. For SCV Issue: Check Autotronic Codes by turning the key on, pushing the clutch in and releasing it to clear the right screen, then holding down the up arrow key to view DC and TC error codes on the left screen.

  5. For SCV Issue: Inspect the external linkage and ensure the valves are in the center position.

  6. For SCV Issue: Check the small, thimble-sized SCV filter for blockages, which can cause erratic electrical issues and valve communication failures.

Repair steps

  1. Clean/Replace the Filter

Locate the small thimble-sized filter in the SCV block. Remove, inspect, and replace it if it is blocked with debris.

  2. EDT Diagnostics

If the filter does not resolve the issue, the tractor must be connected to the dealer's EDT (Electronic Diagnostic Tool) to pinpoint the exact electrical break.

  3. Component Replacement

Replace either the electrical part of the valve itself or the fingertip controls in the cab. Note that if the first valve in the sequence fails electrically, the rest of the valves will not work.
