Massey Ferguson E105 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / EEM: Intake Manifold Temperature
Issue description
The intake manifold temperature has exceeded the warning limit or the sensor signal is outside the normal operating range.
Applies to these machines
8 machines- MF 3600
- MF 3700
- MF 5400
- MF 5600
- MF 5700
- MF 6400
- MF 7400
- MF 8400
Check the cause
Check the cooling system radiators for blockages, dirt, or damage
Inspect the condition of the vent lattices/grilles to ensure fresh air can flow freely into the engine bay
Inspect the wiring harness running from the intake manifold temperature sensor (or combined boost pressure sensor) to the Engine ECU for shorts to ground, shorts to voltage, or open circuits
Check the ECU connector and the sensor connector for corrosion, bent pins, or loose connections
Repair steps
Clean the Cooling System
Blow out the radiators and vent lattices with compressed air to ensure the high intake temperature isn't simply being caused by restricted airflow.
Test the Sensor
If airflow is adequate, locate the intake manifold temperature sensor (often located on the intake manifold and combined with the boost pressure sensor). Test the sensor's resistance; if the resistance does not change smoothly with temperature variations, the sensor is faulty.
Replace the Sensor
Disconnect the wiring harness from the sensor. Unbolt/unscrew the faulty sensor from the intake manifold and install the replacement part.
Clear the Code
Turn on the tractor and use a diagnostic scan tool or the tractor's dashboard interface to delete the error code from the control unit.
Reactivate Systems
If the tractor locked out any hydraulic valves or engine functions due to the code, stop and re-run the engine to reactivate them.
