E9010

Massey Ferguson E9010 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Ambient Pressure Sensor Malfunction

Issue description

Indicates a malfunction with the Ambient Pressure Sensor (barometric pressure sensor). The engine management system uses this sensor to adjust the fuel injection and turbocharger boost based on atmospheric pressure.

Applies to these machines

  • 4707
  • 4708
  • 4709
  • 4710
  • 5608
  • 5609
  • 5610
  • 5611
  • 5612
  • 5613
  • 7600 Series
  • 8600 Series

Check the cause

  1. Check for 5V reference shorts (codes E9021, E9022, or E9023) from external sensors that could pull down the ECU's internal voltage

  2. Inspect ECU connectors for water ingress, corrosion, or bent pins that could bridge circuits

  3. Check battery and charging voltage to ensure system voltage is stable

  4. Cross-test the tractor with a known-good EEM controller to verify if the original ECU's internal sensor has failed

Repair steps

  1. Turn off the ignition and disconnect the tractor's battery (negative terminal first).

  2. Locate the Engine ECU.

Typically mounted on the side of the engine block, isolated by rubber mounts.

  3. Carefully release the locking levers on the ECU wiring harness connectors and unplug them.

  4. Remove the mounting bolts and remove the defective ECU.

  5. Install the replacement ECU and torque the mounting bolts to OEM spec.

  6. Reconnect the wiring harnesses.

Ensure the locking levers seat fully to maintain the weather seal.

  7. Reconnect the battery.

  8. Program the new ECU.

A new ECU will be blank or locked. You must use the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) to flash the correct engine software/parameters for your specific tractor model and input the injector trim codes.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Engine Electronic Management (EEM) Module

There is no separate part number for the ambient pressure sensor because it cannot be serviced individually. You must order the ECU using the tractor's specific serial number through an authorized AGCO dealer.
