Massey Ferguson E9082 – Engine ECU (EEM): Cam speed sensor, reverse connected

Issue description

This fault code indicates a specific electrical fault with the camshaft speed sensor. The system has detected that the sensor's wiring polarity is reversed, or the signal being received by the control module is inverted/incorrectly phased relative to the expected pulses from the camshaft trigger wheel.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect wiring polarity for recent repairs, spliced wires, or repinned connectors where signal and ground wires may be backward

  2. Ensure the sensor connector is fully seated, free of corrosion, and pins are not pushed out or damaged

  3. Verify the reference voltage supply (5V or 12V depending on engine) and ground at the connector using a multimeter

  4. Check the signal wire for continuity from the sensor connector back to the Engine ECU to rule out a short or open circuit

Repair steps

  1. Turn off the engine, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
