Massey Ferguson E9133 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Malfunction of the fuel injector No. 3
Issue description
Faulty fuel injector number 3 (or Solenoid valve 3). Depending on the FMI, it can indicate a short circuit, open circuit, current level error, or fast decay error. Triggers an emergency limp home mode, limiting engine power to 60% and capping maximum speed at 1500 RPM.

Check the cause
Check the FMI Sub-code (3, 5, 6, 11, or 31) on the instrument panel display to determine if the fault is a short circuit, open circuit, or internal solenoid failure
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to Injector No. 3 for chafed wires, melted insulation, or a loose/corroded electrical connector at the injector head
Perform a cylinder drop test by carefully cracking the high-pressure fuel line to each injector while the engine is running; if loosening the line to Injector No. 3 causes no change in RPM or sound, the cylinder is dead
Perform a component swap test by swapping Injector No. 3 with an adjacent injector to rule out a cylinder compression issue or wiring harness fault
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the battery terminals and the EEM main control unit connector to prevent electrical spikes during repair.
Clean the Area
Thoroughly clean the area around Injector No. 3 to prevent dirt and debris from falling into the cylinder head when the injector is removed.
Remove Lines and Connectors
Disconnect the electrical connector from Injector No. 3. Carefully loosen and remove the high-pressure fuel line connecting the fuel rail to the injector. Cap the rail fitting to prevent contamination.
Extract the Injector
Remove the injector hold-down clamp/bolt. Carefully pull the injector out of the cylinder head.
Remove the Old Seal
Ensure the old copper sealing washer is removed from the bottom of the injector bore. If it is stuck in the hole, use a pick to retrieve it. Never stack a new washer on top of an old one, as this will cause severe blowby.
Install the New Injector
Fit a brand-new copper sealing washer and new O-rings to the replacement injector. Seat the injector into the bore.
Reassembly
Reinstall the hold-down clamp and torque the bolt strictly to the specifications outlined in the AGCO Sisu workshop manual. Reconnect the high-pressure fuel line and the electrical connector.
Bleed and Test
Reconnect the battery. Bleed the fuel system if required by your specific engine variant. Use the AGCO Tech Connect Diagnostics tool to clear the E9133 fault code, then start the engine and check for leaks and proper operation.
