E9152

Massey Ferguson E9152 – Engine ECU: Fuel filter pressure, fluctuating

Issue description

This code indicates that the pressure inside the fuel filter is fluctuating abnormally or is out of the safe operating range. It is triggered by the fuel filter pressure sensor detecting irregular fuel supply pressure, which is often caused by a restriction, air in the system, or a failing sensor.

Applies to these machines

  • Massey Ferguson 8600 Series

Check the cause

  1. Check the fuel level in the tank to ensure it is sufficient, as low fuel can cause pressure fluctuations and aeration

  2. Inspect fuel lines, tank, and filter housing for physical damage or leaks that could draw air into the fuel system

  3. Inspect the connector and wiring harness at the fuel filter pressure sensor for a loose contact, corrosion, or open circuit

Repair steps

  1. Ensure Adequate Fuel

Fill the fuel tank to a sufficient level to rule out fuel starvation.

  2. Inspect and Prime

Visually inspect all fuel delivery lines from the tank to the filter housing. Prime the fuel system to ensure there is no air trapped in the lines.

  3. Replace the Fuel Filter

Because fluctuating pressure is most commonly caused by a restricted or clogged filter, remove the old fuel filter, clean the housing, and install a new OEM fuel filter.

  4. Test the Sensor Connection

Disconnect the fuel filter pressure sensor. Clean the electrical contacts and ensure the harness is securely seated to rule out a loose connection.

  5. Replace the Sensor (if necessary)

If the fuel level is fine, the filter is new, and the wiring is secure but the E9152 code persists, the fuel filter pressure sensor itself has likely failed and must be replaced.

  6. Clear Codes

Clear the Engine ECU fault codes and run the machine to verify that the fuel pressure has stabilized and the code does not return.
