Massey Ferguson E9235 – Engine Electronic Module (EEM / ECU): Diagnostic ID module memory fault / ID module, supply voltage HIGH (> 32.0 V)
Issue description
The ID module stores engine-specific data and monitors the main engine control unit's software. When this module suffers a memory defect, overflows its data bank, or experiences a severe voltage spike, it triggers E9235 and forces the engine into a derated (power-limited) protection mode.

Check the cause
Test alternator output and battery voltage to ensure the charging system is not overcharging (> 32.0 V) and damaging the module
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the main Engine ECU and the X188 ID module for corrosion, moisture, or a poor ground connection
Check the CAN A data link between the ECU and the ID module, as a loss of communication can mimic a memory failure
Use an AGCO diagnostic tool to check if the ID module's memory bank is full or overflowing (clearing the memory bank may resolve the issue without hardware replacement)
Repair steps
Activate temporary bypass
If the tractor is derated in the field and a replacement part is not immediately available, use the WinEEM3s Service Tool to activate a temporary bypass (Configurations -> Bypass restrictions) to allow the engine to run normally without the ID module for a maximum of 200 hours.
Disconnect battery
Disconnect the tractor's battery.
Locate ID module
Locate the ID module (X188) on the engine block, usually mounted behind the main Engine Electronic Module (EEM).
Remove faulty module
Disconnect the wiring harness from the faulty ID module and unbolt it from the block.
Install new module
Install the new ID module and securely attach it to the engine block. Reconnect the wiring harness.
Reconnect battery
Reconnect the battery.
Connect diagnostic tool
Connect the WinEEM3s Service Tool (or equivalent AGCO diagnostic software) to the machine.
Couple ECU and ID-module
Navigate to the Configurations tab and select 'Couple ECU and ID-module'. This pairs the new module with the existing ECU.
Set engine hours
Navigate to 'Set Engine Hours' to sync the correct running hours to the new module (Note: hours can only be added/increased, not decreased).
Clear fault code
Clear the E9235 fault code and test run the tractor.
