Massey Ferguson E9241 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / SisuTronic EEM3: Diagnostic ID module: ID module not present, bypass active
Issue description
The ECU cannot detect the ID module, but a temporary software bypass is currently active allowing the engine to run.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- 5400 series
- 6400 series
- 7400 series
- 8400 series
- 8600 series
Check the cause
Verify that the ID module is physically present. It is located on the top-left corner of the engine cylinder block.
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the ID module and the engine ECU for loose connections, corrosion, or broken wires. If the ECU detects the ID module again, the bypass will automatically disable and save the remaining bypass time.
Use the SisuTronic EEM3 service tool to check how much bypass time remains. The bypass is strictly limited to a maximum of 200 cumulative engine hours.
Repair steps
Order the Part
Order a new ID module from an AGCO/Sisu dealer. You MUST provide the exact engine serial number, as the ID module is hard-coded to the specific engine.
Remove the Old Module
Locate the ID module on the top-left corner of the cylinder block. It is secured by two M8 breakaway capscrews. Remove these screws and disconnect the module.
Install the New Module
Mount the new ID module to the block and plug in the wiring harness.
Software Coupling
Connect a laptop with the SisuTronic WinEEM3s service tool to the tractor.
Sync ECU and ID Module
Navigate to the Configurations tab and execute the 'Couple ECU and ID-module' command. This syncs the engine ECU with the new ID module.
Clear Fault Code
Once the new ID module is successfully detected, the active bypass state will automatically terminate, and fault code E9241 will clear.
