Massey Ferguson E9244 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Diagnostic ID module

The Engine Control Unit (ECU) has lost communication with the ID module, the module has malfunctioned, or a temporary bypass code has expired, causing the ECU to automatically limit engine power (limp mode).

   Inspect the wiring harness and connections at component X188 (the ID module) for loose contacts, corrosion, or open circuits.

   Check the supply voltage reaching the ID module to rule out harness or alternator issues (voltage >32.0 V or <8.0 V indicates a supply issue, not a module failure).

   Verify the engine serial number matches the ECU specifications, as a mismatch can trigger ID module faults.

   Locate the Module

   The ID module is attached to the top-left corner of the engine cylinder block.

   Remove the Old Module

   Remove the two M8 breakaway capscrews securing the module and disconnect it from the engine harness.

   Order the Correct Part

   Provide the exact engine serial number when ordering the replacement so it comes pre-programmed with the correct engine data.

   Install the New Module

   Secure the new ID module to the block using new M8 breakaway capscrews and plug in the harness connector.

   Temporary Bypass

   If the part is delayed, bypass the power limitation for a maximum of 200 hours by connecting the SisuTronic EEM3/WinEEM3 service tool, contacting the Sisu Diesel Help Desk with the engine serial number to get a 32-character ByPass code, and entering it into the ECU.
