E9303

Massey Ferguson E9303 – Armrest Control Module (AR) or Tractor ECU / Transmission Controller: Speed regulator UI fault / Cruise control fault

Issue description

Malfunction in the User Interface (UI) input for the cruise control system. The control module is detecting an incorrect, missing, or out-of-range electrical signal from the cruise control switch, button, or thumbwheel located on the operator's armrest.

Applies to these machines

  • Massey Ferguson 8600 Series
  • Massey Ferguson S Series

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the physical condition of the cruise control switch, buttons, or the thumbwheel on the Multipad joystick for sticking, debris, or physical damage.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the cruise control switch and the armrest control module for loose connections, chafed wires, open circuits, or shorts to ground or power.

  3. Use a diagnostic tool to monitor the live digital input configuration. Actuate the cruise control switch to see if the module registers the input change.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Access the Switch

Carefully disassemble the armrest control panel or Multipad joystick housing to access the cruise control switch assembly.

  3. Test Continuity

Disconnect the switch from the harness and use a multimeter to test for proper continuity when the switch is engaged and disengaged.

  4. Replace or Repair

If the switch fails the continuity test, replace the switch. (If the switch is hard-integrated into the Multipad, the entire Multipad joystick assembly may need replacement). If the switch tests good, trace the wiring back to the armrest ECU and repair any damaged wires or pins.

  5. Reassemble and Clear Codes

Reconnect the components and the battery. Use a diagnostic tool to clear the E9303 code and test the cruise control operation in the field. Note: Recalibration or software configuration of the armrest module by a dealer may be required.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Armrest Cruise Control Switch / Multipad Joystick Assembly

Exact part number depends on trim level, serial number, and whether it uses a standard armrest or Multipad joystick. Provide serial number to dealer.
