Massey Ferguson E9312 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Engine Electronic Management (EEM3 or EEM4): Torque control input / Error in torque control input

The Engine Electronic Management (EEM) monitoring system has detected an overlapping of the boost power functionality. A physical input on the tractor that requests an engine power/torque boost has been detected as 'active' for longer than the allowed time limit, causing the system to think the tractor is continuously asking for a torque boost.

   Identify which physical inputs on the tractor request an engine power/torque boost (most commonly the PTO engagement switch, transport speed sensors, or hydraulic demand sensors).

   Use a diagnostic scan tool to view live digital inputs to the Engine ECU and identify which torque control/boost input is reading as continuously 'Active'.

   Test the suspected switches (such as the PTO switch) to see if they are mechanically stuck in the closed position.

   Inspect the wiring harness connected to the suspected switch for a short to power or a short to ground that would cause a continuous active signal.

   Connect a diagnostic scan tool to the tractor's diagnostic port to view live data for the Engine ECU digital inputs.

   Identify which torque boost input is showing as continuously active.

   Disconnect the electrical connector at the suspected switch (e.g., the PTO switch).

   Observe the live data.

   If the data changes to 'Inactive,' the switch is internally shorted/stuck and must be replaced. If the data still shows 'Active' with the switch unplugged, the fault is in the wiring. Trace the wiring harness back to the ECU to locate and repair the short circuit.

   Install the replacement switch or repair the damaged wire.

   Clear the fault codes using the diagnostic tool and test operate the machine.

   Engage and disengage the PTO or drive at transport speeds to ensure the boost function cycles properly without triggering the code.
