Massey Ferguson E94 – Engine ECU: Fuel Filter Pressure or Fuel Filter Pressure Sensor

The code triggers when the fuel pressure at the filter inlet is outside the safe operating range. This is most commonly caused by a physical restriction (such as a dirty fuel filter or gelled diesel fuel in cold weather) preventing the flow of fuel, or an electrical fault with the sensor itself.

   Check the fuel level in the tank and inspect all fuel lines for physical damage, kinks, or leaks

   Check the condition of the fuel filter and verify the date of its last technical service (a clogged filter is the most common mechanical cause)

   In severe cold weather, check for thick or gelled diesel fuel, which will restrict flow and trigger a low-pressure code

   Check the electrical condition of the fuel primer pump and inspect its fuse

   Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the fuel filter pressure sensor for loose contacts, corrosion, or short circuits (especially if sub-codes 3, 4, or 31 are present)

   Inspect and Replace the Fuel Filter

   If the filter is past its service interval, visibly dirty, or if the tractor has been operating in freezing temperatures with summer-blend diesel, replace the primary and secondary fuel filters.

   Prime the Fuel System

   After replacing the filters, use the fuel primer pump to bleed air from the system and restore proper fuel pressure.

   Test the Primer Pump

   If the system will not prime, verify the primer pump fuse is intact. If the fuse is good but the pump does not operate, the primer pump may need replacement.

   Inspect Sensor Connections

   If the filters are clean and fuel flows properly but the E94 code persists, disconnect the fuel filter pressure sensor. Clean the contacts and check the wiring harness for continuity to the Engine ECU.

   Replace the Sensor

   If the wiring is intact and the ECU is receiving a faulty voltage reading (or no signal), replace the fuel filter pressure sensor.

   Clear Codes

   Clear the error code from the control unit dashboard and run the engine to verify the fault does not return.
