Massey Ferguson M01 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid Open Circuit

This code indicates that the control module has detected a break in the electrical circuit for the solenoid that operates the mid-mount hydraulic valve (which controls the front loader). An 'open circuit' typically means there is infinite resistance, which is caused by a disconnected plug, a severed wire in the harness, or a burnt-out internal coil within the solenoid itself.

   Visual Inspection: Locate the mid-mount valve block (usually mounted on the right side of the chassis where the loader lines connect). Inspect the wiring harness leading to the solenoids for chafing, rodent damage, or disconnected plugs.

   Connector Check: Unplug the connector at the affected solenoid. Check for pushed-out pins, heavy corrosion, or moisture inside the plug, which can break the electrical connection.

   Coil Resistance Test: Using a digital multimeter, measure the resistance (Ohms) across the two pins on the solenoid itself. If the multimeter reads 'OL' (Open Loop) or infinite resistance, the solenoid coil is internally broken and must be replaced.

   Harness Continuity Test: If the solenoid tests good (shows a standard resistance value), test the wiring harness for continuity between the solenoid plug and the Mid Mount Valve Module to locate the broken wire.

   Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable

   This prevents electrical shorts.

   Clean the area around the mid-mount valve block

   This prevents dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

   Disconnect the electrical harness plug from the faulty solenoid

   Remove the retaining nut or cap located at the end of the solenoid valve stem

   Slide the faulty solenoid coil off the hydraulic valve cartridge tube

   Note: You usually do not need to open the hydraulic system or remove the cartridge stem to replace the electromagnetic coil.
