Massey Ferguson M06 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid High Amp Draw

The electrical current (amperage) flowing through the solenoid coil that controls the mid-mount loader valve has exceeded the maximum expected threshold. This condition is typically caused by an internal short circuit within the solenoid coil itself, a short-to-ground in the wiring harness, or a mechanically stuck hydraulic valve spool that is forcing the solenoid to overwork and draw excessive current.

   Inspect the wiring harness running from the Mid Mount Valve Module to the loader valve block for chafing, melted insulation, or pinched wires that could be causing a short to ground

   Disconnect the electrical connector at the affected solenoid and use a multimeter to measure the resistance (Ohms) across the solenoid coil pins. A reading of zero or near-zero indicates an internally shorted coil

   Inspect the connector pins for corrosion, water ingress, or damage that could bridge the connection

   If electrical tests pass, check if the hydraulic valve spool is mechanically binding due to debris or wear, which can cause the solenoid to draw excessive current

   Power down the tractor, engage the parking brake, and disconnect the negative battery cable.

   Ensure the machine is safe to work on.

   Relieve hydraulic pressure by moving the loader joystick in all directions.

   Depressurize the system before working on the valve block.

   Locate the mid-mount electro-hydraulic valve block.

   Typically mounted on the right side of the tractor chassis near the loader subframe.

   Thoroughly clean the area around the valve block.

   Prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

   Disconnect the electrical wiring harness connector from the faulty solenoid.

   Isolate the solenoid electrically.

   Remove the retaining nut or cap securing the solenoid coil to the valve stem.

   Prepare to remove the faulty coil.

   Slide the faulty solenoid coil off the valve cartridge stem.

   Note: If the cartridge itself is stuck or damaged, unscrew the entire cartridge from the valve block, install a new one, and torque to OEM specifications.

   Slide the new solenoid coil onto the stem and secure it with the retaining nut.

   Install the replacement part.

   Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Restore electrical connection to the new solenoid.

    Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and test the loader joystick functions.

    Verify the repair was successful.

    Clear the M06 / 0B.X.06 fault code.

    Use the dash interface or a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool.
