Massey Ferguson M08 – Mid Mount Valve Module: Loader Mid Mount Electro Valve Solenoid Low Amp Draw

Issue description

The control module is detecting less electrical current than expected flowing through the loader's electro-hydraulic solenoid circuit when the valve is commanded to open. A "low amp draw" typically points to high electrical resistance in the circuit, a broken/chafed wire, a heavily corroded connector, or a burned-out (open) solenoid coil.

Check the cause

  1. Visual Wiring Inspection: Trace the wiring harness from the Mid Mount Valve Module to the loader electro-valve block. Look for chafing, cuts, or pinched wires, especially where the harness routes near moving loader linkages or hot engine components.

  2. Connector Check: Disconnect the electrical connector at the affected solenoid. Inspect for water ingress, bent pins, or green corrosion, which can cause high resistance and trigger a low amp draw code.

  3. Coil Resistance Test: Use a digital multimeter to measure the resistance (Ohms) across the two pins of the solenoid coil. A reading of infinite resistance (OL) indicates an open/burned-out coil that must be replaced. You can compare this reading to a known-good solenoid on an adjacent valve spool.

  4. Voltage Supply Test: With the key ON (engine off), have a helper actuate the loader joystick while you check for proper voltage and ground at the harness connector to rule out a module or wiring failure.
