Massey Ferguson P211 – Hitch Control Module: Park Brake Released Solenoid High Amp Draw Dyna 6 (HITCH)

The electronic control unit has detected an abnormally high electrical current (amperage) draw on the circuit responsible for the Park Brake Release Solenoid, which almost always points to a short circuit to ground in the wiring harness or an internally shorted solenoid coil.

   Inspect the wiring harness from the transmission brake block solenoid bank back to the controller for chafed insulation, pinched wires, or areas shorting to ground.

   Disconnect the plug at the Park Brake Release Solenoid and inspect the pins for corrosion, water ingress, or melting.

   Perform a coil resistance test using a multimeter across the pins of the solenoid coil. A reading near 0 Ohms indicates an internal short.

   Isolate the circuit by turning the key on with the solenoid disconnected and commanding the park brake to release. If the code changes to an Open Circuit code, the solenoid coil is the definitive cause.

   Secure the Tractor

   Park the tractor on a flat, level surface. Chock the wheels securely to prevent the tractor from rolling. Turn off the engine and remove the key.

   Locate the Solenoid

   Locate the transmission solenoid valve bank (brake block) on the side of the Dyna-6 transmission housing. Identify the specific solenoid for the Park Brake Release.

   Disconnect Power

   Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty solenoid.

   Remove the Coil

   Remove the retaining nut at the end of the solenoid valve stem. Slide the faulty solenoid coil off the cartridge stem. (Note: If replacing the entire cartridge valve, thoroughly clean the area first to prevent dirt from entering the transmission hydraulics).

   Install the New Part

   Slide the new solenoid coil onto the valve stem and tighten the retaining nut securely.

   Reconnect and Test

   Plug the electrical connector back in. Start the tractor, cycle the park brake on and off to verify mechanical operation, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the P211 fault code.
