Massey Ferguson P212 – HITCH: Park Brake Released Solenoid Low Amp Draw Dyna 6 (HITCH)

The control module has detected an open circuit or a lower-than-expected electrical current draw on the circuit responsible for the solenoid that releases the ParkLock (park brake) mechanism. This is typically caused by a broken wire, a disconnected plug, or a burnt-out solenoid coil.

   Visually inspect the ParkLock unit wiring harness routing to the solenoid valves for chafing, breaks, or pinched wires

   Disconnect the electrical connector at the Park Brake Released (Bleed) Solenoid and check for water ingress, corrosion, or pushed-out pins

   Measure the resistance across the pins of the solenoid coil using a multimeter (an infinite/OL reading confirms an internally open coil)

   Check the continuity of the wiring harness between the solenoid connector and the HITCH/Autotronic 5 controller to isolate a broken wire if the solenoid tests good

   Locate the Component

   Identify the ParkLock unit on the transmission housing. The unit features a mechanical actuator and two solenoid valves screwed into the cover plate.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the exterior of the ParkLock unit and the base of the solenoid to prevent dirt or debris from entering the hydraulic circuit during removal.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty 'Released/Bleed' solenoid valve.

   Remove the Solenoid

   Unscrew the faulty solenoid valve from the ParkLock cover plate. Have a rag ready to catch any residual hydraulic fluid.

   Install the New Part

   Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid valve with clean hydraulic fluid. Thread it into the ParkLock unit and tighten it to the OEM torque specification.

   Reconnect and Test

   Reconnect the electrical harness. Turn the tractor on, clear the stored P212 fault code, and cycle the park brake to verify proper engagement and release without the code returning.
