Massey Ferguson P214 – HITCH: Park Brake Activated Solenoid Low Amp Draw / Filling solenoid valve Open circuit
Issue description
This code indicates that the controller is detecting an open electrical circuit or an abnormally low electrical current draw on the solenoid valve responsible for activating the Park Brake (also known as the ParkLock filling solenoid valve). Because the circuit is open, the solenoid cannot energize to engage or disengage the park lock mechanism properly.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the Park Brake Activated Solenoid (Filling Solenoid Valve) for obvious physical damage, chafing, or severed wires.
Disconnect the solenoid and inspect the connector terminals for dirty, corroded, worn, or pushed-back pins that could cause an open circuit.
Perform a coil resistance test using a multimeter across the pins of the solenoid. If the reading shows infinite resistance (OL), the internal coil is broken/open.
If the solenoid tests good, check the continuity of the wiring harness between the solenoid connector and the HITCH controller to isolate the open circuit.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during repair.
Access the ParkLock Unit
Locate the ParkLock valve block assembly on the side of the Dyna-6 transmission.
Repair Wiring (If Applicable)
If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or damaged connector, splice in a new section of wire or replace the connector pigtail. Ensure all connections are weather-sealed.
Replace the Solenoid (If Applicable)
Clean the area around the ParkLock solenoid to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system. Unplug the electrical connector. Unscrew the defective filling solenoid valve from the ParkLock unit. Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid with clean hydraulic fluid. Thread the new solenoid into the valve block and torque to OEM specifications. Reconnect the electrical harness.
Clear Codes and Test
Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the P214 fault code. Start the tractor and cycle the Park Brake to ensure the code does not return and the system holds pressure.
