Massey Ferguson P215 – Autotronic 5 (Auto 5): Park Brake Activated Solenoid Voltage Issue Dyna 6 (HITCH)
Issue description
This fault code indicates an electrical voltage anomaly (such as a short circuit to +12V, short to ground, or an open circuit) on the circuit controlling the Park Brake Activated Solenoid (often referred to in OEM manuals as the ParkLock solenoid valve). When this fault is active, the controller cannot properly actuate or verify the state of the solenoid that engages the transmission's ParkLock mechanism.

Check the cause
Secure the Machine: Because you are diagnosing the parking brake system, ensure the tractor is on flat ground and the wheels are securely chocked before beginning any tests.
Inspect the Harness and Connectors: Locate the ParkLock unit on the transmission. Inspect the main electrical connectors (designated in manuals as TR5, TR6, TR7, and TR8) for corrosion, moisture, or backed-out pins.
Test the Solenoid Circuit: Check the wiring between the Autotronic 5 controller and the Park Brake Activated Solenoid for continuity. Test for a short to ground or a short to +12V power.
Test the Solenoid Coil: Unplug the solenoid and measure the resistance across the coil pins with a multimeter to verify it is within OEM spec and not internally shorted or open.
Check the Switches: The ParkLock unit also houses status and wear switches (e.g., X673, X674). Ensure these switches are operating correctly, as a mechanical bind can sometimes cause the system to cut voltage or log related codes.

Preparation
Turn off the engine, remove the key, and ensure the wheels are heavily chocked.
Locate the Solenoid
Locate the ParkLock unit (GPA40) on the transmission housing. The unit features a cover plate with two solenoid valves (typically labeled 21 and 22 in the manual) and two switches.
Removal
Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the faulty Park Brake Activated Solenoid.
Unscrew the Valve
Carefully unscrew the solenoid valve from the ParkLock cover plate. Have a shop rag ready, as a small amount of hydraulic fluid may seep out.
Installation
Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid valve with clean hydraulic oil. Thread the new solenoid into the cover plate and tighten to the specified torque.
Reconnection
Reconnect the electrical harness.
Calibration/Clearing
Turn the key on, clear the stored P215 fault code using a diagnostic tool, and test the ParkLock engagement/disengagement to ensure the voltage issue is resolved.
