Massey Ferguson P222 – HITCH: Park Brake Released Solenoid Voltage Issue Dyna 6 (HITCH)

The electronic control system has detected an abnormal voltage condition (such as a short circuit, open circuit, or out-of-range voltage) on the circuit responsible for the Park Brake Released Solenoid.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the HITCH controller and the transmission solenoid valve block for chafed wires, corrosion, or moisture.

   Use a multimeter to check the resistance of the Park Brake Released Solenoid coil against OEM specs to ensure it is not internally shorted or open.

   Check the Park Brake Indirect Switch (often linked to the shuttle lever or dashboard) to ensure it is functioning correctly, as switch failures can mimic solenoid faults.

   Secure the Tractor

   Park the tractor on a flat surface, turn off the engine, and securely chock the wheels to prevent rolling.

   Locate the Solenoid

   Locate the transmission solenoid valve bank on the side of the Dyna-6 transmission.

   Replace the Faulty Component

   If the Park Brake Released Solenoid fails the multimeter test, remove and replace the solenoid. If the solenoid tests fine but the wiring is damaged, repair the harness. If both are fine, replace the Park Brake Indirect Switch.

   Reassemble and Clear Codes

   Reconnect all electrical connections and clear the P222 fault code using a diagnostic tool.

   Perform Transmission Calibration

   Warm the transmission fluid to between 15-60°C. Raise engine speed to 1500 RPM. Raise the PowerShuttle arm and simultaneously press the differential lock switch for about 3 to 10 seconds until the dash displays 'Ct'. Shift the PowerShuttle lever to forward to begin the automatic calibration (takes approx. 10 minutes). Once complete, shift to neutral, disengage the diff lock, idle down, and turn off the engine to save the settings.
