Massey Ferguson P71 – Transmission Module 1 (TRANS1): Signal error with the X135 - Braking pressure sensor

Issue description

The controller is detecting that the X135 Braking pressure sensor's voltage is outside of the normal operating range (greater than 5V or less than 1V), indicating an electrical issue such as an open circuit, a short circuit to ground or power, or a completely failed sensor.

Check the cause

  1. Locate the X135 Braking pressure sensor (usually on the transmission/brake valve block near the ParkLock solenoids) and inspect the connector for corrosion, moisture, or backed-out pins.

  2. Trace the wiring harness from the X135 sensor back to the TRANS1 module. Look for chafing, pinched wires, or breaks.

  3. Using a multimeter, check the reference voltage at the sensor connector with the key on. It should be receiving a steady 5V reference. If outside 1V to 5V, suspect a wiring short or module supply issue.

  4. Verify that the pneumatic/hydraulic brake system is actually holding pressure (above 4 bar / 58 psi), as severe pressure loss can trigger out-of-range sensor readings.
