Massey Ferguson R15 – HITCH: Mud Guard Rear Hitch Buttons Signal Voltage Issue

Issue description

Incorrect signal originating from component X626, which is the Rear linkage lowering switch on the left-hand fender. The system detects that the voltage returning from this switch is outside the expected parameters, meaning the switch is either shorted, open, or sending an erratic signal.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the left-hand rear fender linkage lowering switch (X626) for physical damage, cracked rubber boots, or buttons stuck in the depressed position.

  2. Access the back of the switch on the mud guard and check the wiring harness and connector for water ingress, corrosion, or broken wires.

  3. Disconnect the switch and use a multimeter to test for continuity, verifying if the switch opens and closes correctly when pressed.

  4. With the key on, check the connector from the Linkage Controller to ensure the switch is receiving the correct reference voltage.

Repair steps

  1. Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the battery to prevent short circuits.

  2. Locate the rear linkage lowering switch (X626) on the left-hand rear mud guard/fender.

  3. Reach behind the fender panel or remove the switch housing cover to access the wiring.

  4. Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty switch.

  5. Depress the retaining tabs or remove the mounting hardware to push the old switch out of the mud guard housing.

  6. Clean the wiring harness connector with electrical contact cleaner to remove any dirt or moisture.

  7. Snap the new OEM switch into the fender housing.

  8. Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the weather seal clicks firmly into place.

  9. Reconnect the battery, turn on the ignition, and test the rear hitch lowering function from the fender.

  10. Clear the R15 fault code from the tractor's diagnostic menu.
