Check the cause
Inspect the rear hitch rocker switch (X119) on the right-hand armrest or side console for physical damage, sticking buttons, or signs of moisture/dirt intrusion.
Access the back of the switch, disconnect the wiring harness, and check the connector pins for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or loose connections.
Test the switch using a multimeter to verify it shows an open circuit in the neutral position and proper continuity when pressed in the raise and lower directions.
Check the wiring harness between the X119 switch and the HITCH controller for continuity, shorts to ground, or open circuits.
Repair steps
Preparation
Turn off the tractor ignition, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
Access the Switch
Carefully pry up or unscrew the trim panel on the side console or armrest where the linkage controls are housed.
Removal
Unplug the electrical connector from the back of the faulty X119 rocker switch. Depress the plastic retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body and push it upward/outward to remove it from the console panel.
Installation
Snap the new OEM rocker switch into the panel until the retaining tabs click securely into place.
Reconnection
Plug the electrical connector into the new switch, ensuring the locking tab engages. Reinstall the console trim panel.
Testing
Reconnect the battery. Turn on the ignition and use the tractor's diagnostic screen to clear the R18 fault code. Test the rear hitch raise and lower functions to confirm the repair.
