Massey Ferguson R32 – HITCH: Issue With Signal From Rear Hitch Right Draft Pin
Issue description
The voltage signal coming from the right-hand draft pin sensor is outside of its normal, expected operating range. This prevents the system from accurately sensing the draft load on the right side of the rear linkage.

Check the cause
Check for mechanical binding: Ensure there is no significant side-loading present on the hitch arms, which can cause a significant voltage difference between the two sensors.
Inspect the wiring harness: Visually and physically test the wire harness and connectors leading to the right draft pin sensor for damaged wires, corrosion, open circuits, or shorts to ground/power.
Measure sensor voltage: With the hitch completely unloaded, back-probe the sensor. A healthy draft sensor should measure approximately 2.5 Volts.
Compare left and right sensor voltages: They should be within 1 Volt of each other at baseline. If the right sensor's voltage is drastically different or erratic while the left is steady at ~2.5V, the right sensor has failed.
Repair steps
Relieve Load
Lower the rear hitch completely to the ground and disconnect any implements to ensure there is zero load or tension on the draft pins.
Disconnect Electricals
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the electrical harness connector from the right-hand draft pin sensor.
Remove the Pin
Unbolt the retaining hardware/plate securing the right draft pin to the linkage bracket and slide the faulty draft pin sensor out of the housing.
Install the New Sensor
Clean the bore, insert the new OEM draft pin sensor, and secure it with the retaining hardware.
Reconnect
Plug the electrical harness back into the new sensor.
Calibrate the Hitch
Because the linkage controller relies on precise baseline voltages, you must perform a rear hitch/draft sensor calibration procedure via the tractor's diagnostic interface or in-cab calibration sequence so the HITCH controller can learn the new sensor's zero-load voltage.
